The Children’s Recovery Center (CRC) is seeking a trauma-informed, emotionally intelligent Executive Director to lead a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing hope and healing to child abuse victims. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an experienced nonprofit executive who understands child abuse response, multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration, and the realities of vicarious trauma in child-serving systems.
The next Executive Director will steward a strong organization with a dedicated staff, engaged board, and trusted community partnerships—while guiding CRC into a more financially resilient, strategically focused, and sustainable future.
About Children’s Recovery Center
CRC provides a safe, child-centered environment where children and families in crisis receive coordinated, compassionate care. Through a robust MDT model, CRC reduces trauma by minimizing the need for children to retell their stories while bringing together law enforcement, DSS/CPS, medical providers, and advocates.

Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) serves as CRC’s chief executive and public ambassador, reporting to a 12-member Board of Directors and supervising six program and administrative staff, while working closely with medical providers.

- Annual Budget: ~$1 million
- Location: On-site in Myrtle Beach (limited remote flexibility)
- Schedule: Occasional evenings/weekends and local travel required
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Accountability:

- Develop, manage, and monitor the annual budget
- Ensure accurate client billing and timely payment of expenditures
- Prepare and submit:
-
- Monthly budget status reports (within five days of month-end)
- Quarterly financial and grant activity reports to the Board and Medical Director

- Oversee grant compliance, audits, and reporting to funders and oversight bodies
Organizational & Operational Leadership:

- Oversee daily operations, including administrative systems, scheduling, and office management
- Maintain organizational policies, procedures, and compliance standards
- Ensure nonprofit compliance with the SC Secretary of State, IRS, and other regulatory bodies
- Maintain NCA accreditation and compliance with all standards
- Foster a professional, trauma-informed, and supportive work environment
Board Relations & Governance Support:

- Prepare Board meeting agendas, materials, and minutes
- Provide data and reports to support Board oversight and strategic decision-making
- Support Board committees with analysis, documentation, and coordination
- Maintain healthy, transparent staff–board relationships
External Relations & Community Engagement:

- Serve as CRC’s primary liaison with key partners, including: United Way of Horry County, Myrtle Beach and Georgetown Chambers of Commerce, Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation, Horry County Council, and the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with funders, government agencies, and community partners
- Represent CRC publicly to advance visibility, advocacy, and collaboration
Fundraising, Development & Grants:

- Lead and oversee all fundraising efforts, including events and partnerships
- Strengthen donor cultivation and stewardship to diversify revenue streams
- Oversee grant reporting and compliance
- Provide impact data and financial insights to support development strategies
The Ideal Candidate
CRC is seeking a leader who brings both strategic strength and human-centered leadership.
Required & Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated experience leading and evaluating mission-aligned programs with measurable impact
- Proven success managing teams, setting expectations, coaching performance, and supporting staff well-being
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and effective board partnership
- Experience developing and managing budgets, grants, audits, and financial reporting
- Ability to lead strategic planning, organizational growth, and change management
- Knowledge of diversified fundraising strategies (grants, individuals, events, major gifts)
- Experience working with MDTs, law enforcement, social services, and child protection systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire donors, partners, and the public
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, criminal justice, nonprofit management, or related field

- Master’s degree preferred

- 5–8 years of nonprofit or social-services management experience, ideally in child welfare or abuse response

Compensation & Benefits

- Salary Range: $89,000 – $100,000 (commensurate with experience)
- 100% employer-paid health insurance (valued at $10,000–$12,000 annually)

- Competitive PTO with increases at 5- and 10-year milestones
